Sea Ranch Lodge, An Eco-Sensitive Resort in Sonoma
Sonoma, California

Green goers should get to one of the California's first eco-sensitive resorts with incredible views over ten miles of the dramatic Sonoma coastline. Look out over the Pacific from one of the 20 simple, elegantly styled rooms; I recommend rooms 19 and 20, notable for their fireplaces and spa tubs perfect for a romantic stay.
The rustic, personal feel is complemented by the attentive staff and delicious restaurant. TVs are only available in two rooms and work addicts beware: cell-phone reception is variable at best, but if you feel the need to touch base with the real world, take advantage of complimentary Internet access. While you're there, don't miss Ansel Adams' collection on display at the nearby Alinder gallery. Four-legged friends are more than welcome and are pampered with comfy beds, water, and yummy treats; $50 per stay for up to two dogs per room. It's three and a half hours from San Francisco airport, Oakland airport, and Sacramento.
Room rates from $230.
