Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Grand Golf & Spa Resort in Mallorca, Spain

You may not feel quite like royalty at this grand hotel centered around a 13th-century castle, but Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a member of Starwood's Luxury Collection, is certainly a very good family option in Mallorca. Its 164 guest rooms include some larger family suites.

Are you a golfer? Then it's also a great choice as the Son Vida golf course is just outside the hotel's gates, and the Royal Bendinat Golf Club is a 10 minutes' drive. Castillo Son Vida's period decor, artwork, and architecture are perfectly nice, although not to my personal taste (lacks warmth and high style), but many people I know like it. The rooms and suites offer several special amenities, such butler service and choice of 20 different soap brands and eight types of pillows for guests of the spacious Loewe Suite. Don't miss the decadent Arabella Spa, with pools, saunas, massages, and various beauty treatments using products from Anne Sémonin and Ligne St. Barth. Relax on the pool terrace and have snacks and lunch at Bar Armas or the Sa Font Pool Bar. You can also dine on Mediterranean food at Es Castell or Spanish cuisine at Es Vi, and drinks can be had at the Cigar Lounge, but when it comes to dinner, I recommend you go out and try one of Mallorca's top restaurants. Son Vida has a fitness center (a bit small), an indoor pool and a beautiful outdoor pool, two tennis courts, and three golf courses, including the oldest course in Mallorca. In my book, Son Vida is a fine place to stay for couples with children. 10 minutes drive from central Palma.
