Swim with Dolphins

Nancy kimbrough.jpgDolphin Dreams Travel
Boulder, Colorado, US

Nancy Kimbrough knows facilities worldwide that allow guests to touch, swim with, and even paint a T-shirt with, captive dolphins. Most of these facilities are strictly regulated, so she can recommend membership programs that give you a better shot at reservations. Said to be calming, therapeutic and great for kids with ADD. One of the most fun, exciting experiences you can have, in my opinion - with or without kids.

Paraparaumu Beach

parapara.jpgParaparaumu Beach
Paraparaumu Beach, New Zealand

Located in the suburbs of Wellington, this tight links-style course requires smart shot-selection; stray drives will end up in the deep rough. Not for amateurs- expect tight fairways and long par-3’s… Don’t worry about the score; just enjoy the coastal mountains in the background and the course’s undulating hills; the par-4 13th hole is one of the most picturesque holes you will ever play. Green’s Fees start at around $65.

Windows of the Wild

Windows on the Wild.jpgWindows on the Wild
Alaska

Until 200 years ago, Glacier Bay National Park was covered in 5,000ft of ice. The ice then receded, unveiling a ‘virgin’ landscape which was colonised with an abundance of flora and fauna - ‘all in the geological blink of an eye.’ The water, as you paddle in a kayak towards the receding glacier from Reid inlet, is toothpaste blue, filled with chunks of ice sculpted into exquisite shapes.” (Conde Nast Traveller 2005) I had to share this one with you - it’s at the top of my “to do” list. Please let me know, if you beat me to it, what it was like!
