Balloon over the Swiss Alps

balloons.jpgHans Buker
Expert Ballonist
Switzerland

And expert character! Wait till you meet this guy. Lovely and full of good stories. My family and I had the time of our lives with Hans while putting our lives in his hands…yikes
Trips are typically 2 hours; Hans will meet you in several regions budget depending. Truly one of the most dramatic balloon trips one could take, topping the alps makes you feel, well, small? Great special occasion gift I may add.

Swim with Dolphins

Nancy kimbrough.jpgDolphin Dreams Travel
Boulder, Colorado, US

Nancy Kimbrough knows facilities worldwide that allow guests to touch, swim with, and even paint a T-shirt with, captive dolphins. Most of these facilities are strictly regulated, so she can recommend membership programs that give you a better shot at reservations. Said to be calming, therapeutic and great for kids with ADD. One of the most fun, exciting experiences you can have, in my opinion - with or without kids.

Windows of the Wild

Windows on the Wild.jpgWindows on the Wild
Alaska

Until 200 years ago, Glacier Bay National Park was covered in 5,000ft of ice. The ice then receded, unveiling a ‘virgin’ landscape which was colonised with an abundance of flora and fauna - ‘all in the geological blink of an eye.’ The water, as you paddle in a kayak towards the receding glacier from Reid inlet, is toothpaste blue, filled with chunks of ice sculpted into exquisite shapes.” (Conde Nast Traveller 2005) I had to share this one with you - it’s at the top of my “to do” list. Please let me know, if you beat me to it, what it was like!
