Just off from the Pere-Lachaise Cemetery, about four miles from the center of Paris, is Mama Shelter—a cool and quirky hotel, with Philippe Starck's signature stamp.  Opened in the fall of 2008, it's a favorite of business travelers for its efficiency and price tag (given the cap on expense accounts in this market).

Along with the tiny price tag are the tiny rooms … but what's there is super cool … instead of a television there is a 24 inch iMac programmed to work as a TV, CD/DVD player or computer, a cozy bed and zero noise from adjacent rooms. There's no room service, but the in-house restaurant has worth-it breakfast buffet along with a lunch and dinner menu created by Alain Senderens.
