This welcoming inn is nestled between pine trees, sagebrush and sandstone, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s a golfers’ paradise, with the 18th green of the Torrey Pines Golf Course just next door. The 171 spacious rooms (including 7 suites) are decorated with custom-designed furniture, William Morris soft furnishings, as well as high-tech facilities. Bathrooms are spa-worthy, with natural marble and granite floors and deep, decadent tubs. The restaurants decor is rather old-fashioned, with patterned carpets and dark furniture, but the seasonally driven fare created by executive chef Jeff Jackson is bang on the money. The property includes a small spa and fitness center. Love it as a weekend bolthole. 20 minutes from San Diego International Airport. Room rates from $325. |
