Trendy Rive Gauche hotel, superbly located if you love St Germain. The minimalist, arty feel extends to the (small) 115 rooms with deep earthy tones and subtle lighting. The rooms are bland and I repeat: very small (often the case in Paris) but it’s a good base to be on foot and in Parisian style. Love the welcome gift—a box of cookies from my favorite Parisian patisserie Laduree. Essential pit stops include the Bel Ami Café for breakfast, and the Harmonie spa for a superb massage and facial. Bohemian types will love the locale, the hang-out for art enthusiasts with galleries, design boutiques and jazz cafes. The Louvre, Place de la Concorde, The Musee D’Orsay and the L’Orangerie are all within walking distance. However, my discerning friend Olivier Cardon says that whilst there’s nothing wrong with it, it lacks that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’! I agree, but liked being right in the middle of St. Germain.
