If you want to learn polo, then Argentina is the place to do it. Run by Mariano, a 4 Goal player, this polo school located on 124 acres of farmland 136 miles from Buenos Aires, trains upwards of 60 players a month. If you play polo, you likely know of it already (they’ve been around since 1986, and they have an outpost in England). Beginners have no fear; horses are handpicked for their safe style, and they have temperaments to suit all levels of player ability. Varying course lengths are offerered, from weekend or 10-day-long clinics, or longer. Kids can be looked after, there’s a pool on the grounds, and the guest houses are simple but nice. If you want to learn or improve your skills, be warned—the club’s philosophy is based on practice rather than theory, so prepare for a punishing training schedule by experienced coaches. Thankfully, the adjoining El Metejon Polo Resort, billed as Argentina’s first polo hotel, will help soothe aching limbs with its wonderful health club, solarium, swimming pool and 12 elegant suites.
