Arguably the best polo facility in the United States, the International Polo Club Palm Beach upholds the finest traditions of the sport in a truly magnificent setting. No expense has been spared on creating the ultimate experience for members and visitors. A dramatic palm-lined drive leads to a world-class club—an all-white pavilion with a pool, polo library, spa, fitness center, restaurants, bars, lounges and a children’s play area. All eyes, though, focus on the Grandstand Pavilion and three meticulously maintained playing fields which host major events like the US Open Polo Championship and high-scoring Ylvisaker Cup and Gold Cup. Bring a picnic, kick back and enjoy the game as it was meant to be played.

| Description:
Located on a magnificent private estate in southern Spain, and blessed by a warm and sunny year-round climate, this is one of Europe’s most prestigious polo clubs. With 9 playing fields in three locations—Los Pinos, El Rio and Puente de Hierro—Santa Maria hosts 30 of Spain’s leading tournaments. If you’re vacationing on the Costa del Sol (the club is just 15 minutes’ drive from Gibraltar and 45 minutes from Malaga), this is a great alternative to another day on the beach: watch a tournament or learn to ride and play polo with expert tuition from the club’s coaches. The season starts in late March, but practice games are played as early as January. |

Set in the lovely grounds of Windsor Great Park, the club welcomes visitors to watch major tournaments, such as the high-goal (and high-profile) Queen’s Cup and Hurlingham Polo Association’s International Day, the showpiece event of the polo world. Reserve a picnic area by one of the pitches or pay a king’s ransom for a seat in the Royal Box. It’s Wimbledon with horses—champagne, afternoon teas, strawberries and cream, and pukka chukkas from pitch to pavilion.

The location scouts didn’t have to look far for a club that fitted the bill perfectly: beautiful setting, top players to "act out" the game, and members lining up to be extras—all just two hours east of Los Angeles. Eldorado is the polo capital of the Western United States, hosting the best tournaments, teams and players for almost 50 years. The season runs from December to April with visitors welcome at matches and a host of social events from themed dinners to polo parties. If you’re a keen player, check out the clinics run by Rege Ludwig, the guru of modern polo—an inspirational way to learn. |
