| Description:
Les Trois Garςons is a poshed up pub that’s part Alice in Wonderland fantastical, part Philippe Stark stylish and entirely British glam. Even by Manhattan standards, it’s super-funky, and definitely worth the trip to Shoreditch. The leopard print upholstery, the animal skin rugs and candelabras and table tops that vary in materials give the spot a great clubby, sexy vibe. Go to Les Trois Garςons for dinner and it quickly becomes your entire night out. When you go with a group, you can easily get one of the plush booths in the dining room. It can seat about eight. There’s also a private dining room that seats up to 16.

The semi-private dining room at this chic Notting Hill restaurant is a great place to gather friends in style. The room, which can fit up to 12, has high ceilings, oak wood floors, and a corner location with great views through the expansive windows. It opens into the lounge part of the restaurant, where there’s a long bar and low sofas. That’s a perfect spot together for tapas and cocktails before dinner. Even though the room is semi-private, you feel like you’re part of the energy of that sultry lounge. The table is oval shaped and the crowning jewel of the room is the big, beautiful chandelier. It’s the kind of room I really love—it’s not over the top. It just feels chic and elegant. The food is nothing great, so it’s best to keep it simple. They have quite a lot of tapas and an impressive selection of wines by the glass. You can go really casual or dress up and make it an evening affair. Either way, it will be a memorable night. |

| Description:
My favorite place for a casual gathering in Piccadilly has got to be the wine store on the ground level of Gaucho’s Swallow Street outpost. It’s dedicated to Argentine wines and designed accordingly: it’s rimmed by wine bottles and has a pretty atmosphere with a great soundtrack of lounge music, but in no way is it formal. Gaucho is better suited for wine tasting with small dishes to share than a multi-course dinner. Another option is to get different cuts of steak, which they’re known for, and an array of sides. Make sure to book well in advance. They do a great job making large groups feel comfortable. There are quite a few places in the area to go out dancing afterwards, like Volsead, a swish club, and Momo’s, a dimly lit lounge. |

Hush is pretty well known and busy most nights. What’s less known, however—a little more "hushed," if you will—is La Cave, a wine boutique across the courtyard from the restaurant, right off a cobblestone street. I’m neither here nor there about the restaurant, but the wine tasting room is a fabulous, intimate tucked-away spot for a dinner party. Your friends will be surprised and impressed at the Bijoux style room, decked out with huge candelabras and surrounded by wine bottles. You can bring your own music to play. The food is English continental, nothing to really write home about, but the service makes the night. You’re assigned a waiter for the night, which gives any occasion a really exclusive feel. It’s nice to have someone who’s not rushing to and from other tables. One thing I definitely recommend: If it’s a special occasion, like the engagement party I arranged for my friend here a few years ago, definitely bring your own cake. |

The perfect place for lunch or dinner with friends … the big table at Casa Brindisa—a new Spanish restaurant and tapas bar in South Kensington—is a natural fit for groups. Super-casual and it couldn’t be better for sharing food. The more people the better, in fact, because then you can order everything on the menu! The food is, simply put, stellar. The lamb dishes, spinach with golden raisins and pine nuts and the fried cheese in a honey batter are just a few of my favorites. And there are racks of Roija served by the glass. There’s another Casa Brindisa in Borough Market, and I’ve always found that restaurant is a treat as well. This place will certainly become one of Kensington’s most popular spots once the word starts getting out.

No using the "f" word in this chic new Gordon Ramsay restaurant! Overlooking Regent’s Park, one of my fave green spaces in London, the old York & Albany pub in Camden Town has been transformed into a fab 10-room hotel, hot new restaurant, and rustic country store deli. Friends have spotted Ramsay there, but the restaurant, two private dining rooms and deli are run by his protégé, Angela Hartnett, a culinary star in her own right. The food is simple and delish … rump of Cornish lamb, puy lentils and roasted pumpkin, oven-baked halibut with chorizo and white beans, and top wines from France, Italy and Argentina. Décor is calm and classic: crèmes, greys and beiges contrasting with black leather sofas. Love the smooth shiny bar. Go with friends, dressy casual … and don’t miss the deli.

Halepi is Greek to me, and that’s just the way it should be. Eve Hoeffelman, a London-based Dutch banker, says this down-home, raucous spot is one of the best unknown gems favored among the London cognoscenti. You and your friends sit amid the perpetual bustling of the casual dining room. They’re quite accommodating when it comes to large groups. It’s great classic Greek food, high in the fun factor. And that’s no myth.
