Left Bank style, complete with the politics. When CBS needed to interview moderate anti-Castroites, they headed to Tinta. The food is traditional Cuban sandwiches with a Miami make-over. La Noche Entera is a heartier American-ized version of medianoche. The atmosphere is rife with friendly banter, and once a month owner Santamarina opens the café up to a tertulia, political discussion. "Politics is part of the digestion process," she says.

The bohemian, downtown vibe makes this a casual setting to enjoy a paella—or three. It’s one of the hippest art-world hang-outs and it gets especially full during Art Basel Miami. The eclectic clientele to pull up chairs at the Formica tables includes artists and collectors. Around them, Spanish chit-chat of the locals resounds. Try the chicken sandwich; chicken, cheese and potato chips pressed between slices of bread. Simple but delicious.

Stunning food and affable service define this Miami Beach institution. Wonderful roast chicken, and fab milkshakes, if you’re feeling naughty. It’s not fancy, but it has got a great atmosphere and it won’t break the bank. Be sure to try an order of yucca con mojo. It’s like garlic potatoes—sort of! While you feast, check out the whimsical creations of the Scull sisters on display.
