| Description:
Popular with the city’s fashionistas and movers and shakers, 48 is helmed by a Christoforos Peskias, a protégé of the molecular gastronomy maestro Frerran Adrià who takes Greek staples like stuffed grape leaves and deconstructs them only to conjure up some intriguing new delicacy. (His brazen interpretation of stuffed grape leaves is rice cakes with a leafy garnish.) Seafood is a specialty—you’d be hard pressed to find a better preparation of sea bass than his rendition with marinated cucumbers. Another must is the re-conceptualized feta pie served in an ice cream cone. The restaurant has a very Los Angeles look, with neon streaks splashed throughout the generally dark-toned room. If you’re out for an epic epicurean evening, reserve a table by the pebble-filled pool. But 48 can certainly accommodate diners just breezing through for a light snack and a tipple. The glass bar, a sublime shade of lapis lazuli, is one of the most relaxing spots in the city for a glass of terrific Greek wine from their superbly-stocked cellar.

| Description:
This Parisian star chef Guy Martin set up his Grecian outpost in a refurbished 19th-century warehouse. His menu here takes the nation’s Mediterranean classics and adds a boost of finesse with the exquisite French technique that earned him three Michelin stars. There’s a formal dining room on the upper level where the chefs work wonders with fresh caught fish and regional ingredients. It’s classy but snazzy, the kind of place where a snifter of cognac seems appropriate. The restaurant offers a comprehensive selection of the spirit. Add to that the cigar collection, an in-house patisserie and the artesanal cheese trolley that’s wheeled through after your dinner and it’s not surprising that this is one of the city’s priciest places to dine. There’s also a more casual dining room on the ground. Stop in for a set lunch on Sundays that will only set you back €30.

| Description:
Even the ancients who built the Parthenon would be impressed by this restaurant, an Xanadu of a restaurant that unfurls behind an inconspicuous entrance in the warehouse district. To get into the dining room, you have to strut across a runway-style catwalk. It stretches over a glass encased wine cellar, which appears to have been built into a hole in the earth. It houses what’s arguably the best wine collection in the city. Chef and owner Chrisanthos Karamolengo has created a menu of haute Greek cuisine with a transcontinental sensibility. That’s apparent in the restaurant’s name, which translates as "left right" that spans from Greek sushi to hoisin duck spring rolls with beet salad to a grilled pork and eggplant dish dressed with Thai seasonings. It’s definitely worth a visit, especially in summer when you can dine outside and enjoy a more moderately priced taverna-style menu.

| Description:
Recently re-opened, this smart favorite is housed in a beautiful Neoclassical building in a residential district of Athens. Part bar, part restaurant, it attracts a media crowd, so you’ll regularly find beautiful people nibbling on the beautifully prepared food, such as double cooked lamb or salmon with mango salsa. There’s a gorgeous garden in the back, but it’s one of the scenier places in the summer months, with all the city’s hipsters flocking the place for its walled-in garden patio. After the sun sets, a DJ is usually at the turntables dropping dubs and lifting spirits. |

This little fashionable fish restaurant has a fun, casual island-style vibe with wooden tables and mismatched chairs. Go for the fresh sardines and zesty lemon tart—with Limoncello to accompany everything, of course!

| Description:
Located in a stylish complex that was formerly a silk factory, and now houses the Pierides Museum of Ancient Cypriot Art, this restaurant, lined with plush red couches, features a complicated Mediterranean menu. Local favorites are the crab salad with cumin, mango and lime, or the pigeon with cocoa pasta. Not everything is to everyone’s taste, but if you like new flavors, head here. In summer, take dinner al fresco in the red courtyard.

| Description:
Industrial chic style collides with laconic countryside sensibility at this urban eatery. Katrino Podilato is Greek for "yellow bicycle," so that explains the buttercup bike suspended from the ceiling. But it’s not just the quaint message that biking is good that will inspire reveries for quaint village life. The salmon is all smoked in-house over a fire fueled by special sawdust to impart distinct flavors and most of the herbs used in the dishes are grown in the restaurant’s rooftop garden. Dishes balance bold ingredients and delicate flavors. Try the small triptych of fava beans or the chicken and bell pepper spring rolls that deliver a surprising zing thanks to the use of fresh spearmint leaves.
