Wellness Practitioners Worth Traveling For

You'll have to travel a long way to experience these unusual wellness therapies¸ but the health benefits are well worth the journey.

Roger White
Aquatic Massage Therapist
Roger is a massage therapist with a difference—his treatments take place in a bathing pool filled with warm water. "It's more relaxing, intense, effective, satisfying and fun than a land-based massage," he says. After my session with him at the Purple Valley Yoga Retreat in Goa, I can tell you he is one of the most talented therapists I've experienced; even top yoga instructors go to him for treatments. A blend of Shiatsu and water, Watsu is especially effective for pregnant women and anyone suffering from sore muscles and joints. He has recently opened his own pool in Goa—only the second Watsu training center in India—and is planning a second one in Cornwall in the UK.

Alex Field
Energy Field Consultant and Naturopath
One of my favorite UK naturopaths, Lucinda Miller, says this Perth-based naturopath and "energy field consultant" is terrific. Energy what? According to Alex, every person has their own "energy fields" which need to stay "clean" for optimum good health and well-being. Working with naturopathic iridology, herbal medicines, and her own line of products, Alex offers consultations, workshops and one-on-one coaching to help clients learn to "read, assess and clear" their energy fields to promote healing and wellness. It works across physical, mental and emotional levels. "Alex is very spiritual and intuitive," says Lucinda.
