St. Regis Singapore

Orchard Boulevard

Arrive in style, with your private Bentley pick-up direct to the St. Regis. This property is one of my favorite city hotels—anywhere. Every space is artfully designed, with high end touches uniquely combined to deliver a oh-ah sense of wow. Fans of Asian art should head here, the hotel houses one of Asia’s finest private art collections; drawings by Joan Miró, to paintings by Singaporean Chen Wen His. If you’re idea of art is more along the lines of a finely crafted shoe, the hotel is also minutes from the designer shopping on Orchard Road. The 299 rooms take full advantage of this prestigious address, with huge windows overlooking the city, lacquered walls, and a palate dominated by oranges, yellows and reds. All rooms feature flat screen TVs, CD/DVD players, and blackout blinds so that you can catch a few winks in a city that rarely sleeps. You’ll also have the services of a St. Regis butler, day and night. The botanic gardens are a 5-minute walk away—and please make time for the Remede Spa and have the outdoor thai massage, you’ll never forget it. The sleek fitness room faces the clean-cut pool surrounded by low modern fountains and day beds. There is little privacy as their two condo towers directly overlook the outdoor area—so, don your best cover-up. We did not care for the menu at poolside LaBrezza; but the ultra-glam Yan Ting for Cantonese cuisine is a showstopper. As they recently opened, there are some service growing pains—but I have no doubt they’ll iron out.

Room rates from $430.
