Four Seasons Tented Camp

Golden Triangle, Thailand

Each of the 15 free-standing tents at the Four Seasons Tented Camp is designed as an open space with king beds, copper bathtubs, classic safari-style furnishings and decks overlooking verdant surrounds

This exquisite retreat is hidden away in the jungles of northern Thailand's Golden Triangle region. I've not yet been but have been filled in by many friends that this is one of their most memorable places to stay. Reached by long-tail riverboat from Chiang Rai, this super-luxury camp offers all-inclusive adventures lasting three or four nights and featuring mountain treks, river trips, elephant mahout training, visits to hill tribes, and formal campfire dinners under the stars. The elevated tents look like they are from a colonial-era expedition, albeit a very posh one. Each of the 15 free-standing tents is designed as an open space with king beds, copper bathtubs, classic safari-style furnishings and decks overlooking verdant surrounds. A Thai Massage at the open-air spa is a must. In the evening, watch the sunset from the Burma Bar, and then dine on authentic Thai, Laotian and Burmese cuisine in the restaurant. NB: There are no TVs in the tents, but if you must! One can be ordered for use during your stay.

Packages from $1,500.
