Traditional English luxury in two Grade II listed Victorian townhouses.  It’s perfectly located smack on Hyde Park, great walking base to explore the chic area and city beyond. The 45 rooms and 12 suites are decorated in rich colors, with dark wood and antique furnishings. Louise who recently stayed, boasted about suite 106, saying it’s one of the nicest city rooms she’s experienced. “Four poster fabric covered bed, large crystal chandelier, tapestry walls and plenty of space—I’d happily visit again.” All guestrooms have WiFi, iPod docking stations, CD and DVD players. The tiny but effective resistance pool and full-service gym (NB: in the basement) are barely used so feel like your own. Cheneston’s restaurant, headed by executive chef David Smith, serves locally sourced British cuisine in a quintessentially English setting. Not stuffy, more cozy.
