The Peninsula Tokyo
Tokyo

In a city where space is premium, some of the largest rooms in the capital will be a welcome treat. 314 rooms are Zen cool-designed, with neutral tones and wood paneling. I find it funny how you can even regulate the humidity levels! 24 floors mean that you can be sure of fab city scape views of the Imperial Park, with a telescope on the 23rd floor ensuring you dont miss a detail. But don't spend all of your time looking out—in the center of the hotel is "the Void." It was built due to building regulations, and is decorated with magical sculptures that seem to float through the air. Sculpture also finds a home in the lobby, dominated by Japanese designer, Keisen Hama's, bamboo scultpture. Despite these artsy leanings the Peninsula is still a Peninsula—legendary service and style. Business folk hone in on this property given its great strategic location in the heart of the financial district, Marunouchi. There's a cutting-edge fitness center and range of spa treatments in the ESPA spa, which after a long flight, is oh-so deserved. The location is wonderfully convenient: for public transport, simply take an elevator to Hibiya station which connects in the basement of the property. Expect to find the lobby crowded in the afternoon as the restaurant is famous for its high tea service. Peninsula hotels tend to impress, and this one is no exception.
Rooms rates from $600.
