A wonderful long weekend getaway- midway between New York and Boston set in the beautiful forests of the Berkshire hills. The 1893 house was designed in the style of a 16th century Italian palazzo. It still has the feel of a private home with just 19 rooms. The hotel is within walking distance of Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A perfect summer day: explore the forest and listen to an open-air performance in the evening. A stateside favorite of mine for years.  Prices start at $650 for a standard room, rising to $1,850 for a deluxe suite.
