Get ready for a Roman banquet…
Due Ladroni, nr Largo Fontanella Borghese
Firm favourite with the locals, full of Roman businessmen, politicians and theatre crowds. Excellent Mediterranean menu, noted for its large and spectacular balls of mozzarella! Book ahead- there are only three small and rustic but elegant rooms.

Casina Valadier, Villa Borghese
Spectacular city views from this beautifully restored neo-classical villa. Feast on updated Roman classics: duck breast carpaccio, ricotta cheese with olive and pistachio pesto and cherry and sesame encrusted pork fillet are just a few of the delights. Save room for the fabulous dolci- the work of a Sicilian pastry chef.

Dal Bolognese, Piazza del Popolo
Fun, hectic, real trattoria type food, great place to watch the Romans. One of those rare, hip dining spots with food that actually lives up to the setting. Popular with local actors, models and artists. Fittingly, the veal cutlets with bolognese and cheese are the best in town.

Camponeschi, Piazza Farnese
First rate fish restaurant. Although with its fair share of tourists, the food, position on Piazza Farnese and wine list still make this one of the best. I adore the spinach gnocchetti with black truffle and the melt-in the mouth sea bass ravioli. Try the Camponeschi’s own-label wine to really set off the seafood.

Capricci Siciliani, Palazzo Taverna
Excellent Sicilian fare. Serves the best baby squid I’ve ever eaten.. Fantastic seafood, excellent wine list, including many native Sicilian grape varieties and a warm and inviting staff. A taste of Sicily in the heart of Rome- now that’s novel!

Osteria Del Gallo, nr Piazza Navona
Escape the tourist traps of the Piazza Navona and seek out this hidden gem in a narrow alley off the square. Expect old-school, homely service- the owner/chef personally takes your order and is justly proud of his sublime homemade pastas. Save room for the scrumptious homemade tiramisu.
