Fawsley Hall
Northamptonshire, England
We spent this past weekend at Fawsley Hall and had a wonderful time. The stately 15th century Tudor manor house is surrounded by 2000 acres of rolling parkland with great paths to walk or run next to rolling hills, (sheep & cows included) Located in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside, a 2 hour drive from central London, the house was built by Richard Knightley in the 15th century, his descendants lived there until the 1930’s. In 1575 Queen Elizabeth I stayed at Fawsley Hall while visiting Northamptonshire; her original suite can still be seen. The “Great Room” is a the perfect spot to devour a book by the roaring fire, and the outdoor areas make this bolt-hole perfect for a summer weekend too! Gym and treatment rooms are not so appealing, but well-equipped. The bedrooms very nice, the food of high standard (especially liked the breakfast spread) Plenty to do in the area, including a visit to Blenheim Palace. Room rates: £150 - £450
